Schools are bad, crime is bad, cops, county and city workers horrible, stealing funds, picking on poor folks so they never rise up the ladder. I own a home here. I hate this place.

Horrible people, starting at the top like the local law and judges.

I taught the children of Clearlake for 32 years. I felt terrible for them. Born into poverty with very little chance of breaking the cycle of family dysfunction. Unhealthiest county in CA, highest arrest rate in CA, tourism has dried up, schools are chaotic and violent. Zero leadership in this county. Board of Sups is a joke and corrupt to the core. This place is a sociological thesis waiting to happen. You tell people about this place and they think you're exaggerating. Come on up and see for yourself. Buy a kid on the street some clean clothes and feed them. If you're really feeling empathetic, take them to a dentist.

There are no favorite places except the two highways out of the county. The Bad that stood out....not enough room to state. It's dreary, depressing, lacks every kind of resource imaginable, the lake stinks to high heaven in the summertime with toxic algae. It's a third world country in the middle of CA.
