We all love the biggest cities that the Pelican State has to offer. You know the places like New Orleans and Baton Rouge which make all the headlines.

But there are a bunch of other great large cities in Louisiana that don't get as much love.

We're going to change that right now.

Using the most recent Census data, we can tell you about all the places in Louisiana with a focus on the biggest. We update the data each year and this is our fourth time doing this.

You can click here to see a full table of the full of the 100 biggest cities in Louisiana, along with every other place over 1,000 people big. It is sortable by clicking on the headers.

Read on below to see more on the biggest cities. Or for more reading on places to live in Louisiana, check out:

How We Determined The Largest Cities In Louisiana

We've been ranking and dissecting cities in the Pelican State for over 4 years now -- making this actually the fourth time we've run the numbers. We always use the best data, the US Census. In this case, that means we are using the 2013-2017 American Community Survey.

It what is probably the most simple analysis we run each year, we ranked every place in Louisiana from biggest to smallest. The biggest city this year? That would be New Orleans.

The smallest? Slaughter, although there are places smaller than 1,000 people not listed here, so keep that in mind as we take a look at the top ten.

New Orleans ) is a major United States port and the largest city and metropolitan area in the state of Louisiana.

Review Of New Orleans by HomeSnacks User

Visit the French Quarter and then the St. Louis Cathedral. Visit the Bon Ton Cafe for dinner. I also recommend visiting the Natchez river boat and take a dinner cruise. Make sure to get a grenade in the french quarter. Also visit the famous cafe du Monde and get a beignet. If you are interested take in a s*x show or other nighttime activities in the old french quarter. A haunted walk or visit to an old cemetery is also recommended. The old french market is another fun place to see for gift and souvenirs.

The friendliness and the wonderful accents of all the people. The cajun food is awesome so please get some gumbo. Also enjoy the wonderful drinks. Take in the wonderful music that you'll find anywhere. This is America's coolest city.

Baton Rouge ) is the capital of the U.S. state of Louisiana and its second-largest city. It forms the parish seat of East Baton Rouge Parish and is located on the eastern bank of the Mississippi River.

Review Of Baton Rouge by HomeSnacks User

This is probably one of the worst cities I've ever been too. The traffic is awful and almost as bad as Los Angeles, which has something like 5 times the population. Most of the areas outside of the central business district live in poverty, the schools are way below the national average, and the food pales in comparison to New Orleans. I wouldn't recommend that anyone visit or move here.

The best part of Baton Rouge is that it is located pretty close to New Orleans, and is Louisiana's state capital. The thing that stood out the most is the horrid traffic and degrading infrastructure.

Review Of Bossier City by HomeSnacks User

Crime is high, but normally relegated to specific parts of the city. The schools are terrible. There is a church on every street. Southern hospitality is a joke.

I'm a military brat and wife. My husband is at Barksdale. What to do: hunt, fish, and watch paint dry. For fun people either go to church or drink...or both. Shopping and food is limited. Southern hospitality does not extend to any liberals, interracial couples, LGBT, or any type of "other." If you're conservative, boring, and like Trump then this is your kind of town.

The municipal population declined by 8.1 percent over the past decade; it was 53,107 in the 2000 census. After a recheck in 2012, the Census Bureau changed the 2010 population from 48,815 to 49,147. Mayor Jamie Mayo, however, maintains that the Monroe population is more than 50,000 and indicated that he will pursue a continued challenge to the count.

Review Of Monroe by HomeSnacks User

I left Monroe 4 years ago because I could see the townhill spiral then. The city is poor, crime is rising, increase in drugs, and businesses are leaving and none coming in. My sister who lives there does not feel comfortable herself. The largest employer, Century Link, has executives in Denver running the Company, because no one wants to move to Monroe. In 2020, the Company willl be allowed to leave and will. This is sad but true.

The encroachment of crime is now in North Monroe in the nicest neighborhoods. Property value is down. Residents are moving out.

Review Of Alexandria by HomeSnacks User

I live in Alexandria, and it's much more boring than those places because there are hotels everywhere, but no attractions. And, given that, THOSE places are much more interesting than that of Alexandria.

AL is so... dystopian.

Go downtown and you will find some futureless drughead any 3 blocks you move.
