How We Determined The Largest Cities In Pennsylvania

We've been ranking and dissecting cities in the Keystone State for over 4 years now -- making this actually the fourth time we've run the numbers. We always use the best data, the US Census. In this case, that means we are using the 2013-2017 American Community Survey.

It what is probably the most simple analysis we run each year, we ranked every place in Pennsylvania from biggest to smallest. The biggest city this year? That would be Philadelphia.

The smallest? Linesville, although there are places smaller than 1,000 people not listed here, so keep that in mind as we take a look at the top ten.

Review Of Pittsburgh by HomeSnacks User

Pittsburgh has one of the worst school systems and recently has gained public attention for the racism in its policing. There is crime, generally most highlighted in certain, predominately poor and colored areas because Pittsburgh is one of the most segregated places I have visited. It is home to many college campuses and therefore college students, but is also considered a decent place tor raise a family. There are many sporting events if that is what your interest is and many plays and a decent art scene.

The Andy Warhol museum is a great place to visit and all of The Carnegie Museums offer an interesting way to spend an afternoon. Many broadway shows can be seen in Downtown Pittsburgh and the scenery by the many rivers makes for a great morning or evening walk/run. However the segregation is real so any area you are told to avoid is probably predominantly black and the gentrification that started with Google locating a headquarters there is saddening.

Review Of Erie by HomeSnacks User

I like Erie because it is not overly large and there are many interesting places to visit. I especially enjoy Presque Isle, the state park that as 'almost an island' provides nice sandy beaches for sunbathing and swimming and pleanty of trails as well as boating and kayaking.

Presque Isle has many event that take place throughout the year even when the summer season has ended.

My experience isn't too bad. There is plenty of things to do like go to the park, mall or just walk around the city. The crime has increased throughout the years, and also the population has become more crowded.

I love going to Longs Park and getting some ice cream and walking around. It's a very peaceful place.
