How We Determined The Largest Cities In Texas

We've been ranking and dissecting cities in the Lone Star State for over 4 years now -- making this actually the fourth time we've run the numbers. We always use the best data, the US Census. In this case, that means we are using the 2013-2017 American Community Survey.

It what is probably the most simple analysis we run each year, we ranked every place in Texas from biggest to smallest. The biggest city this year? That would be Houston.

The smallest? Southmayd, although there are places smaller than 1,000 people not listed here, so keep that in mind as we take a look at the top ten.

Review Of Houston by HomeSnacks User

There are lots of good restaurants in houston but most of the good ones are centered around midtown or uptown. There is not much crime unless you reside in one of the wards.

Favorite places are the shopping malls like the galleria and the outlet mall. The movie theatres here are also very good and seating is comfortable.

San Antonio, officially the City of San Antonio, is the seventh most populous city in the United States and the second most populous city in both Texas and the Southern United States. Founded as a Spanish mission and colonial outpost in 1718, the city became the first chartered civil settlement in Texas in 1731, making it the state's oldest municipality. The city's deep history is contrasted with its rapid growth: it was the fastest-growing of the top ten largest cities in the United States from 2000 to 2010, and the second from 1990 to 2000. Straddling the regional divide between South and Central Texas, San Antonio anchors the southwestern corner of an urban megaregion colloquially known as the "Texas Triangle".

Review Of San Antonio by HomeSnacks User

Crime is not to bad and the schools here are good. It is a very family oriented city and it is growing fast as well.

I like all the places you can eat at in San Antonio and there is a lot for tourist to do. I did not like that you have to drive everywhere and I wish the city was more urban but overall it's a good place to live in.

Review Of Austin by HomeSnacks User

I went to visit a friend in Austin. I had never been to any part of Texas before this. Austin was BEAUTIFUL. I was surprised that being the big city that it is, it was so clean. My friend explained to me why. She said that you could be fined if litter is in front of your house or business. I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with Austin because I HATE litter.

Being from a small city, what stood out for me is the size of Austin and the many social scenes.
