How We Determined The Safest Bellevue Hoods In 2020
You can ask people which neighborhoods are the safest, or you can just look at the unbiased raw data. So, instead of relying on speculation and opinion, we analyzed the hard numbers from the FBIs most recent crime report (published in September of 2019) for every neighborhood in Bellevue.
To be more specific, we analyzed the FBIs Uniform Crime Report. We then ran an analysis to calculate each neighborhoods property and violent crimes based on the demographics of the area and reported crime. We used two key criteria:
- Total Crimes Per Capita
- Violent Crimes Per Capita
- Property Crimes Per Capita
We then ranked each neighborhood with scores from 1 to 23 in each category, where 1 was the safest.
Next, we averaged the rankings for each neighborhood to create a safe neighborhood index.
And finally, we crowned the neighborhood with the lowest safest neighborhood index the ‘Safest City Neighborhood In Bellevue.’ We’re lookin’ at you, Somerset.

The 10 Safest Neighborhoods To Live In Bellevue For 2020
Somerset is a neighborhood in Bellevue, Washington. It contains Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, Eastgate Park and Somerset Elementary School. Residents say Somerset is what the founders of Bellevue French for beautiful view must have had in mind when they named the city. The hill called Somerset, which tops out just under 1,000 feet, turned out to be a favorite spot to gaze out across Lake Washington and Seattle to Puget Sound and the Olympic mountains. And the beautiful view continues today, with Somerset being a favorite vantage point from which to watch the Blue Angels during Seafair, enjoy Fourth of July and New Year’s Eve fireworks or to just take in panoramic views of Bellevue and Seattle.

Lakemont is a neighborhood located on the Northern face of Cougar Mountain and is often used to refer to many of the communities on Cougar Mountain centered on Lakemont Park and Lewis Creek Park. The majority of Lakemont is located within the city limits of Bellevue, Washington but part of it also falls within Issaquah, Washington. The neighborhood falls fully within the Issaquah School District. Some sections within the Lakemont Community Association include Branderwood, Brighton, Creekside Circle, Longshadow Ridge, Wyngate, Woodcroft, Greystone, Findley Court, Silverleaf, Vuemont Meadows, Collingwood, Sky Mountain, Stratford, Chandler Park, Lakemont Woods,Forest Ridge, the Summit, Belvedere and Lakemont Highlands. There is one small shopping center in Lakemont with a variety of stores. Lakemont borders the nearby cities of Issaquah and Newport, and is one of the largest suburban areas of Bellevue.
